Blocking Advertisements in Yahoo Messenger

If you very often use and love Yahoo Messenger but want to avoid the ads displayed then the following registry hack will work for you. What caused me to look for this registry hack that yesterday I was on Yahoo Answers there I found so many questions on how they can block the ads displayed on yahoo messenger as they are very much annoyed with their presence though there I have found several other solutions also but the below one I have found the best. It only needs the Notepad editor and the codes to do the registry trick.

To Block Advertisements in Yahoo Messenger, create a new text file in notepad and copy following bold text to it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Yahoo\Pager\YUrl]
“Chat Adurl”=””
“Conf Adurl”=””
“Messenger Ad”=””
“Webcam Viewer Ad”=””
“Webcam Viewer Ad Big”=””
“Webcam Viewer Ad Medium”=””
“Webcam Upload Ad”=””
“Change Room Banner”=””
“Personals Alert Ad URL”=””
“News Alert Ad URL”=””
“Mail Alert Ad URL”=””
“Stock Alert Ad URL”=””
“Auction Alert Ad URL”=””
“IMVironment Ad URL”=””
“Calendar Alert Ad URL”=””
“Chat Transition Ad”=””
“Chat Transition Ad”=””
“N2Phone Adurl”=””
“Login Mobile Ad”=””

Now save this file with an .reg extension while any name will work but make sure the extension is .reg. Now double click on the file you have saved earlier. Then click ok (yes) if asked for confirmation that’ll be added to registry. Restart yahoo messenger. It’s done now. Enjoy.
