Gmail outage caused millions of Gmail users have their inbox empty

Few days back I have written an article about a wonderful application to create Backup E-mail Messages from Outlook, Thunderbird, Exchange or POP/IMPAP (Gmail/Yahoo), but may be there would be only few of us who have taken it seriously. If you haven’t then think about it once more if you have some of very important mails or contacts stored in your mailbox.

Why? Some of you might say they have their own web hosting email accounts or some might say that they have their accounts on one of the best secured and reliable service provider Google; but as said nothing is perfect; that happened to Google as well; today.

Google Gmail service was accidentally faced a wiped face leaving thousands of its users with empty inbox…  their contact links were also missing. Though as Google said this was happened to only a small fraction of users and some of them already restored, but Google is not tend to release the actual number effected, though, it said that around 0.08% user base falls in the area hence leaving some 150,000 users affected by the problem.

Asked by BBC [via] Alex Chitu, whose blog Google Operating System, charts the company’s cloud computing initiatives said “Today’s issue shows that Gmail is far from perfect and Google should do a better job at communicating with users.” He further added “When you can’t access your message and your Google account is disabled, it’s nice to know why.”

So think again keeping your important mails backup before something like this might happen to you!
