Have you ever played games like Road-Rash or Rail Road Tycoon; which gives a lot of fun through out the game but have a limitation as you cannot play these games without the disk inserted in the CD drive. This sometimes creates a lot of problem as these days not everyone bothers about having a CD drive in his PC is in good condition or not… even for installation of Windows many of us prefer using Portable hard drive or pendriveto run the setup… so now what can be the best way to play such games which has the restriction if you don’t have the disk in your CD drive…..

….using an image mounting software… is this term new to you… Image mounting software like the one Virtual Clone Drive which you will learn today… are software which creates an virtual disk on your PC which acts and seems exactly like you have a physical drive; but read image files of a CD or DVD instead of an actual disk. Now what an Image Disk? Image disk is the exact copy of any disk but in form of a file just like we compress a bunch of files or folder using winzip or winrar in a single rar file or zip archive.

Then, you have a game disk but you don’t want to look after the CD or DVD every time you need to play that particular game, then first you have to create a disk image, for this purpose there are many free software available, like the one Free ISO creator…. note here that ISO is the extension of an image file of any disk. You can download Free ISO creator from the link here.

So now I assume you have download the ISO creator, now insert the game disk into the drive and Create an image of the disk to anywhere on your PC; you can even use your removable Harddrive of Pen/Flash drive too.

After the disk image creation, now you will never require that game disk again; till you have the image file of the game.

Now the next part the mounting of this image over an Virtual drive… to do so you need to have Virtual CloneDrive; you can download this software from the link given here.

After the download finishes double click to run it; it will display a window as shown below; asking how many virtual disk you need.

Now open Windows Explorer you will a find a new drive added to your computer which is a virtual drive, right click over it using mouse button and in the context menu option there find a new menu added as Mount; click over it and point to the ISO file you have just created…

That’s it now you can play games even if you don’t have a CD/DVD drive or game disk use the iso image instead….
