Windows 7 Tip: How to stop automatic updates of Device Drivers?

Windows 7 by its default settings continuously looks for the drivers files over the Internet for all the hardware installed to your system. However this feature is very useful to most of us but no wonder for some of us this is really a big problem? How?

There are still lot of devices which uses the custom drivers not certified by the Microsoft or the latest drivers not works well for them and in that case if Windows 7 start updating them by its own without any warning then the device may not function very well as it should be. So what to do? The only solution left to find a way by which we can stop the automatic updating of the device drivers..

To do so Right click your Computer icon, and select Device Installation Settings from the menu options. The Device Installation Settings folder is displayed. (As shown in the picture)

Selecting the “No…” option will allow you a few more choices – “Install driver software from Windows Update if it is not found on my computer “and “Never install driver software from Windows Update” apart from the auto update. You may generally disable all driver updates using the “Never…” option.

This will prevent Windows update to download or update your device drivers automatically… hope this will solve problems if caused by the Automatic updates…
